Community

Fostering community is one of Arctos & Bird’s values. We know we’ve met that goal when we see people gather by the outdoor fireplace at the Bison Courtyard, warmly greet their neighbors at Cave Avenue Homes or meet friends for a meal at one of the three restaurants in our buildings.

Our most popular community gatherings are the special events at Bison Courtyard. The festive atmosphere is often enhanced with live music and the opportunity for hands-on involvement – decorating gingerbread, learning to make moccasins, carving an organic pumpkin.

Through truly innovative lease agreements, Arctos & Bird gives Courtyard tenants real incentives to contribute to Banff’s cultural and community life. Cave Avenue Homes was another structured community-building initiative. We worked with The Communitas Group during the sale and construction phase to establish it as a home ownership cooperative.

Ideally, democratic nature of a cooperative helps create community. Further, past experience in the Canadian marketplace confirms that a cooperative's ability to ensure owner-occupied communities has a positive impact on the future resale value of the homes.
